Licensing & Clinical Requirements
Psychiatrists (MD/DO):
- Licensed in applicable states
- Completed psychiatry residency (and child fellowship if applicable)
- Board certified (preferred)
- Unrestricted DEA registration for the state of practice
Psychiatric Nurse Practitioners / Clinical Nurse Specialists:
- Licensed as PMHNPs or equivalent
- Certified in psychiatric-mental health (post-master’s)
- DEA registered and authorized to prescribe with collaborative physician provided where needed
- Certified for pediatric psychiatry if serving child/adolescent patients (preferred)
Licensure by State:
Providers must be licensed in the state where the patient is physically located. Our team navigates requirements related to:
- DEA registrations
- Controlled Substance Registration (CSR)
- Prescription Monitoring Program (PMP) enrollment
- Assistance with E-Prescription of Controlled Substances (EPCS) setup
- Collaborative or supervisory agreements for APRNs (if required by state law)
Credentialing & Quality Standards

Our credentialing process includes:
- Primary source verification of licenses, board certifications, and DEA registration
- Criminal background checks and malpractice history review
- Confirmation of malpractice and liability insurance (FasPsych may provide malpractice insurance for medical doctors, APRNs carry additional personal policies)
- Telehealth compliance training, including HIPAA and state-specific regulations, as well as providing the ability for compliant methods for communicating PHI
- Completion of site-specific credentialing and documentation when required
